Coginchaug Boys Soccer Notch First Win

Mike Lisitano's hat trick lifts Coginchaug to an easy victory.

The Coginchaug Boys Varsity traveled to Westbrook Saturday morning to take on the Knights.

Coginchaug showed great poise throughout the match, and hinted at the kind of play they're capable of.  Senior Alan Haberern and the Midfielders held possession for most of the game, while Senior Captain Ben Taber, flanked by Junior Defenders Luke Fowler, Alex Markoski and Jeff Peracchio kept their opponents from building any credible threat.

It took only about 12 minutes for Senior Midfielder Mike Lisitano to find the back of the net; the first of three goals on the day for him.  Senior Forward Kyle Dupre finished a similar ball in the second half for the first of what many hope is a very prolific season from the speedy Co-captain.  Junior Midfielder Michael Decker added a second half goal. Junior Forward Tyler Kovacs assisted 2 and Senior Defender Doug Hanley had 1 assist.

5th year Coach Christopher Cap was, "...very happy with our performance.  It was a great effort from the whole team."

The win evened the team's record to 1-1. They travel to the Indian River Sports complex in Clinton, to take on rival Morgan on Tuesday afternoon.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
