Teen Safe Driving Video Awards Monday

Video created by Coginchaug students about safe teen driving could earn school top prize of $4,000.

On Monday, a group of Coginchaug High School students - led by student director Kevin Onofreo - will be in Hartford as the Department of Motor Vehicles and Travelers announces the winners of the "Make the Right Choice" contest.

The annual contest requires students to create a short (25 seconds) video message about safe teen driving.

Top prizes are $4,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place and $2,000 for third place, which will go to the high schools of winning students and must be used for promoting teen safe-driving awareness.

The event will be held at the Travelers Claim U Training Facility, 99 Lamberton Road, Windsor, CT. The dinner begins at 5:15 p.m. and the ceremony follows at 6:15 p.m.
