Update: Public Invited to Talk About RSD17 Budget

School officials host public forums this week on 2011-2012 budget

The Regional School District 17 Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 18 has been canceled. The meeting and Community Input session on the 2011-2012 budget has been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 24.

School officials said the Community Input session planned for Thursday, Jan. 20 will be held as scheduled.

As school officials prepare the 2011-2012 budget, they are inviting the public to share their ideas and concerns starting this week.

On Tuesday, Jan. 18 will host a Community Input session on the upcoming budget. The forum will be held prior to the Board of Education meeting, at 6:30 p.m. at (Student Commons).

Another Community Input session will also be held on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the RSD17 Central Office.

A special meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 1 for the presentation of the Superintendent of Schools recommended budget for the 2011-2012 school year. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the RSD17 Central Office.

Following the presentation, school committees will review budget proposals. Two additional Community Input sessions will follow, on Monday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Haddad-Killingworth Middle School (Student Commons) and Monday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the RSD17 Central Office.

On Monday, April 11 the Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting and Annual Hearing on the proposed 2011-2012 school budget at 7 p.m. at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School (Student Commons).

The Annual Meeting on the 2011-2012 school budget will be held on Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at .

A referendum will be held Tuesday, May 3 in Haddam and Killingworth on the Board of Education's budget for the 2011-2012 school year.
