Like many parents, I struggled to find a great pre-school program locally, that fit the schedule of two working parents.

I knew I wanted our daughter to be as best prepared for kindergarten as possible, but needed to find a local program that had extended day options and I personally wanted it to feel like "school" for my 4 year old.

I found exactly what I was looking for when I called Middlefield Children's Center (MCC) and spoke to Director, Lisa Fritz. Lisa explained that the school has been around for a long time, and encouraged me to check out the schools website (www.middlefieldchildrenscenter.com) and to come visit. Located on Main Street in Middlefield, I realized I must have driven past the school a million times and never gave it a second thought.

Walking up the numbered stairs to the school, my husband and I were struck my the "old school house" look and feel of the space. As soon as we met with Lisa and visited the 3 and 4 year old classrooms we knew we'd found the place for our daughter.

The learning approach and happy, active atmosphere was exciting for the kids and the flexible enrollment options were great for us. I liked that there was a co-op option, as I wanted to participate in fundraising and school committees. (There is a non-co-op option as well). Our daughter was used to being in a full-day in-home day care, so the 5-day extended day program works for us. There are other options as well, in fact there are 2-, 3- and 5-day programs.

Now with the school year in full swing, I can happily say that the choice was the best one we could have made. Our daughter loves her school so much so that we might even take advantage of the after school program next year!

I encourage other parents to visit the school for themselves; we have an open house coming up on Saturday, January 18th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
