The Board of Education of Regional School District 17 is pleased to communicate the following District News, Board Items, and Involvement Tip to the citizens of Haddam and Killingworth:
The Board of Education held a very special meeting on June 5, 2012 where it honored exemplary students and faculty including the Top Ten Scholars from HKHS, the Connecticut Association of Schools Middle School Scholars, The Teachers and Staff Members of the Year and the Retiring Faculty from RSD 17.

Each year the Connecticut Association of Schools recognizes the outstanding Middle School Scholars in every school district. This year’s honorees from HKMS were eighth graders Anthony Marino and Mackenzie Pias.

The 2012 Retiring Faculty from RSD 17 represent a combined 178 years of dedication to our students and School District. It is upon their hard work , vision and professionalism that we will continue to build our vision for RSD 17. The retiring faculty for 2012 are:

The HKHS spring athletic season wrapped up with distinction as the Varsity Baseball Team reached the State Class M championship game and the Girls Lacrosse Team reached the State Class S semifinals. Both teams displayed athletic excellence and sportsmanship throughout the season and tournament play.
Board Items:
The Board has a Special Meeting scheduled for June 26, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Among other items on the Agenda, the Board will be honoring its two student representative members for their service, and making decisions about the remaining operating funds for 2012-2013.
Over the summer, the Board will be meeting on July 10th, August 7th, and August 21st. At the July 10th meeting, the Board will have an agenda item to discuss ideas for improving the District. At one of the August meetings of the Board, a presentation will be made about the conclusions of the Community Conversation.
