"Wow Zone" Programs At The Killingworth Library

Representatives from TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank®, will hold two workshops for fourth and fifth grade students: “Budgeting and Saving” and “Introduction to Credit”. High schoolers who aspire to be financially savvy will also be offered a workshop covering both understanding credit and the stock market.

In Budgeting and Saving, kids will learn the concept of budgeting and calculating simple interest on a savings account. The activities rely on a variety of interactive and visual formats which are both interesting and fun. The class will be held on April 21 at 10:30 am.

In Introduction to Credit, the concept of credit will be introduced and students will be allowed to explore credit on a meaningful and concrete level through activities and examples. Each activity guides students in becoming aware of how credit is obtained, retained, and used in a responsible manner. The class will be held on April 21 at 1:30 pm.

The high school workshop on credit and securities focuses on how to obtain credit and maintain good practices with credit and a good credit rating, as well as provides the necessary content background to prepare students for participating in a stock market game, including how to read stock market information. The class will be held on April 20 at 10:30 am.

All lessons, which run between 40 minutes and one hour, are limited to 20 students. Students are welcome to attend one or both sessions if they are interested.

Please sign up at the library or by calling 860.663.2000 as space is limited.
