Coginchaug Fall Sports Preview: Girls' Cross Country

Coach Lavinnia Vigue believes this year's team has the balance needed to compete for a state championship.

Season Opener: Sept. 20 Run to the Sun Invitational at Coginchaug High School

Coach Vigue's Season Outlook: We have got lots of talent. We've pulled in a number of freshmen. We've got upperclassmen that have been developing for several years now. If the season progresses the way I'd like it to, we have a chance to be at the top of the state for our class. That's where my expectations are for them. I've got some real hard workers who are willing to put in the miles and are really willing to push themselves.

We've had individuals over the last few years that have done well by themselves but we haven't had the team, that's the part of this sport. One person isn't going to win you a championship, one person isn't going to get you to finish at the top of the conference but when you can put together a group of five that can run close together and finish close towards the top you can run the table and we've got the talent to be able to do that.

I'm really looking forward to see if we can keep everybody healthy, get them to continue their development. I'm looking forward to see where it goes.
