4. Crop Walk This Sunday Check the tread on your walking shoes, this year's CROP Walk, hosted by United Churches of Durham, is scheduled for 1 p.m. (with registration starting at 12:30pm) on Sunday, October 28 at Middlefield’s Peckham Park.

CROP is an acronym for Communities Responding to Overcome poverty. One-quarter of the total amount we collect as a church is returned to us to help fight hunger locally. A Missions Committee member will be seated at a table in the Hub each Sunday during October to hand out pledge envelopes.

A limited number of CROP Walk t-shirts will be on sale for $10 each.

If you can't walk, make a donation to a church member who can. Even one dollar can make a difference.

5. Teen Halloween Costume Contest Show off your Halloween costume a few days early at the Durham Public Library Teen Costume Party! There will be food, music, games, and more!  Vote on your favorite costumes at the party and winners will get gift certificates to local businesses.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
