Police Identify Suspect in Missing Signs Investigation in Durham

Police say the suspect has not been formally charged and is cooperating with the investigation.

State police have identified a local resident as a suspect in the recent disappearance of signs along Main Street in Durham.

The suspect has not been formally charged with a crime but is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

State police began investigating the disappearance, destruction and movement of business and community organization signs along Main Street this month after several business owners and community members came forward to say their signs had been stolen, damaged or moved.

The suspect was quickly identified and has reportedly agreed to pay restitution to the victims.

State police are asking anyone in the community who may have been a victim to contact them immediately with as much information about missing sign(s) as possible, including receipts from purchases if possible.
