Killingworth Man Killed in Early Morning Crash

State police are investigating fatal crash Sunday involving 31-year-old Matthew Urban.

 

A Killingworth man was killed in a two-car accident along Route 81 early Sunday morning, according to State Police Sgt. Sal Calvo.

The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Matthew Urban, of 633 Higganum Road.

Shortly before 4 a.m., according to Calvo, Urban was traveling southbound on Route 81 in his 2005 Saturn when he swerved into a northbound 1995 Ford F-150 truck being driven by 18-year-old Brandon Buschendorf, of Higganum. The accident happened near Lovers Lane.

Calvo said Urban was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital by Life Star helicopter, where he was pronounced dead. Buschendorf and a passenger, 20-year-old Brian Thode, of Killingworth, were not injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact State Police Troop F in Westbrook at 860-399-2100.
