What's Your Opinion: The Cost of the Durham Fair

Ticket prices to the fair remain steady this year with one exception: the new Super Coaster!

Last week, Patch asked residents to weigh in on one of the major changes to this year's Durham Fair: the craft tent moving from the town green to be replaced by Robert's Dodge.

This week, we'd like to hear from you about the cost of the fair.

Kids 11-and-under are free and local high school and college students can buy a 4-day pass for $10 and $15, respectively. There are also multiple options for adults and seniors to buy discounted tickets.

But what are your thoughts on the cost of the Durham Fair?

Are ride tickets too expensive? Should Durham and Middlefield residents (adults) get a discount on admission? How much do you expect to spend this year? Do you budget for the fair? Join the conversation by leaving a comment below.

They pay a small price to hay the fields and parking for the "Fair" cars

Prices for the Durham Fair are very reasonable, considering the value delivered. Here's my personal projected cost for the roller coaster: $0. For the rest of the rides: $0. See how affordable that is? The fact that the midway exists for others doesn't affect my own enjoyment in any way. Love the animal barns, the crafts, the photography, the only-at-the-fair food, and the musical presentations from the District 13 music departments. My only beef, and I hesitate to complain, is that it can take a long time to get a shuttle bus back to the car, especially if you are trying to leave after the evening entertainment. What I miss most is the days when residents could park by the High School, and we could just walk back to the car from the fair.

Why should one spend have to spend that amount of money to enter the Gates to spend more of your Hard Earned Money! ? It is becoming a Commercial Carnival, rather than a Agricultural Fair. They seem to be driving the Local folks out and the "outsiders" in.

Pxing and admission should be free and the fair should take 6% of gross sales from vendors, etc. Attendance would exponentionly increase and fairgoers wouldn't feel they got fleeced at the gate and therefore more inclined to increase their descretionary spending once inside the fair since they would feel like they got a good deal from the gitgo ultimately resulting in a windfall for the fair inandofitself....

Kids' Place is awesome! Thank you so much for all your efforts! My family spends hours there every Fair day!
