Crawford Announces Re-election Campaign for House Seat

Jim Crawford announces his re-election campaign for the House of Representatives has begun

I am honored to represent the citizens of the 35th District (Clinton, Killingworth, and Westbrook) in the Connecticut House.  Serving the people of our beautiful region is very rewarding.  Constituents bring issues, concerns, and personal problems with government on a daily basis.  Nothing is more gratifying than helping a neighbor negotiate the system, correct a problem, or resolve an ongoing dispute.

As I approach the latter portion of my first term, I am even more eager to address the pressing economic and educational concerns that face our district and state. I ask for your continued support as I announce my intention to run for re-election in November.  I have assembled a great team with Treasurer Jane Scully Welch of Clinton leading the group and Peter Mezzetti organizing community outreach. We intend to bring the campaign issues to each of you.

Tough decisions that needed to be made, and were often not popular, have begun to show slow but steady results. Make no mistake. We didn't get into this mess overnight and the climb back requires perseverence and patience.

Although retired from the classroom, I will always be a teacher and,as such, remain convinced that honest discussion, the frank exchange of ideas, and respect for diverse points of view are the pathways to realistic, long term solutions.

This position comes with a significant learning curve.  Every day brings a new challenge and provides me with more opportunities to develop skills that serve our district's needs.  By definition, this is a part time job. In reality, it's a full time responsibility that demands a disciplined commitment.

Please continue to contact me with your comments and suggestions. Thank you for your trust and I look forward to meeting many of you as the campaign unfolds.
