BAKE SALE

The Catholic Outreach Committee of Notre Dame Church in Durham will have a BAKE SALE to benefit Heifer International on Father’s Day weekend.  We are again trying to see how many Water Buffalos we can provide.   Farmers in Southeast Asia rely on these animals to plow and provide milk.   One farmer has said," If I die my family will grieve. If my buffalo dies, my family will starve." Heifer international raises these beautiful animals, gives them to farmers who are taught good farming methods. The first offspring is given to another family and so on. Because of these gifts families are often able to afford education, which further lifts them out of poverty. Please support our effort to be a part of this process by baking for, volunteering to help at or purchasing something from the sale, which will take, place this year on Saturday, June14 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the Strawberry Festival and on Sunday, June 15 from 8:00 AM to 1 PM in the church hall.   Cards will also be available for those wishing to make a donation to memorialize or honor a loved one. What a thoughtful Father's Day gift for the Dad who has everything or a birthday gift for a family member or friend?   Please call Sylvia Fazzino, (860-349-3761 or email: sylviafazzino@gmail.com to purchase gift cards before the sale or if you have questions or would like to help. Thank you all in advance for your generosity.  Heifer International is a charity organization working to end hunger and poverty around the world by providing livestock and training to struggling communities.  Heifer International was founded on a simple belief: ending hunger begins with giving people the means to feed themselves. Since 1944, Heifer has helped more than 20.7 million hungry families in the United States and 125 other countries move toward self-reliance through the gift of food- and income-producing animals.
