Video: Middlefield Tree Lighting Ceremony
Santa and Mrs. Claus greet Christmas carolers on the town green before meeting with children inside the Community Center.
A crowd gathered on Middlefield's town green Sunday night to celebrate the annual holiday tree lighting ceremony sponsored by the Middlefield Women's Club.
Members of the Coginchaug High School band played Christmas music before carolers welcomed Santa and Mrs. Claus, who arrived by firetruck to help light the tree.

Tommy Koba was chosen to turn the key with Santa to light up the tree which, after a brief glitch, lit up the night sky over Middlefield.
Afterwards, refreshments were served in the Community Center as children met with Santa.
