Our week in review looks back at some of the stories featured on Patch this week.

Monday

The sticker fee at the Durham/Middlefield transfer station is starting next month. DMIAAB members are also finalizing plans for a scale, as well as new fees. As a reminder, the transfer station will be closed on Monday, July 4 and open on Tuesday, July 5.

State police are investigating in Killingworth. The burglaries happened on Tuesday, June 14 and were reported by homeowners on Roast Meat Hill Road and Little City Road. Check out our police blotter next week for possible updates.

Tuesday

Regional School District 13 has installed  at Memorial Middle School and Lyman Elementary School. The panels will provide much of the electricity needs of the schools (on sunny, calm days all of it). Check out our video to hear how school officials plan to use the solar panels as a learning tool.

Wednesday

State Rep. Matt Lesser said was an "unbelievable honor." Lesser visited the White House last week to talk to the administration about the economy and jobs here in Connecticut.

Students in District 13 are provided with during lunchtime. Gone are the days of chicken nuggets and hot dogs, instead students snack on whole grain pop-tarts and zucchini and squash. 

A common flower in flower gardens can be brought back to life with a little patience and some spray paint. This week reveals the allure of Allium, outdoors and inside.

Thursday

The Department of Transportation is in the early planning stages of along Route 17 in Durham. On Wednesday, DOT officials held a public meeting to provide details of the plan, which includes closing Route 17 for up to a week during the summer of 2013.

Youngsters can sharpen their acting chops with the help of CTKidsOnStage.com, which recently held in Killingworth. "I loved the workshop," said one participant. 

Friday

More than 1100 CL&P customers in Middlefield on Friday, after trees fell onto power lines in two locations. According to CL&P a resident of Rockfall was cutting a tree when it fell. A resident in Baileyville says he watched his neighbor's tree just collapse.

The stalemate between Gov. Malloy and the unions came to a head this week, when the unions rejected his budget-saving plan. Legislators are headed back to Hartford next week to figure out how to fix the budget. Meanwhile, and for now there won't be any additional increase. 

Childcare services offered by Region 13 are being extended to municipal employees, volunteer emergency employees and teachers living in Haddam or Killingworth.
