Hale Named Teacher of the Year in Region 17

Special education teacher in Burr District Elementary receives honor.

Regional School District 17, Haddam-Killingworth, is proud to announce Rebekah Hale as our 2010-11 Teacher of the Year.

A special education teacher in Burr District Elementary, Miss Hale has distinguished herself through her teaching in her classroom and her contributions to our school and the district.

Rebekah Hale was nominated by her peers at Burr District for her collaborative nature and her drive to meet the needs of all children. This year, she and another teacher partnered with The Saybrook at Haddam assisted living center to bring in mentors to read with students in their classrooms and teach them about what growing up in the middle part of the twentieth century was like.
