2. The Dough House Survey Is it just me, or did the line at this year's Durham Fair for the Raised Donut seem unusually long? Either way, soon you may not have to wait in line or even for the Durham Fair to arrive to get your hands on one of the fair's most popular desserts.

3. Beast of the East Fitness enthusiasts will compete in the 2012 Beast of the East competition this weekend in Durham. The 3-day event is held at the Durham Fairgrounds and features a number of dynamic strength testing skills and exercises.

4. Author Visits Coginchaug Award winning author Neal Shusterman will visit Coginchaug High School on Friday to talk to students. Shusterman's latest book, UnWholly, was released in August.

Shusterman is traveling to 20 schools around the nation, including four stops here in Connecticut.
