Daily Five: Board of Education Meeting Cancelled

Five things to know for Wednesday, August 22, 2012.

 

1. What's the Weather? Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Tonight: Patchy fog after 3 a.m. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 58. 

2. Meeting Cancelled Tonight's Board of Education meeting at Coginchaug High School has been cancelled. The BOE meets next on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

3. Kindergarten Orientation John Lyman Elementary School will hold Kindergarten Orientation and Bus Ride from 9:30am to 11:00am. Children will meet with kindergarten teachers and classmates to discuss the start of school. Bus riding and bus safety will be discussed and everyone will also have an opportunity to take a brief bus ride around the Lyman School neighborhood.

4. Deputy Fire Marshal Wanted The town of Middlefield will soon be actively searching for a deputy fire marshal. State statute requires towns to have a deputy fire marshal and currently the position is unfilled. While $200 is included in this year's budget to pay for deputy "call-outs," the position will require initial training according to town officials.

5. Middlefeld Senior Center Jane Grant, RD from CRT will present” Diabetes Type 2” on Wednesday August 22nd at 12:30.  All are welcome, no reservation is needed.
