Daily Five: Board of Ed Holds Final Regular Budget Meeting Tonight

Five things to know for Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

 

1. What's the Weather? Increasing clouds, with a high near 48. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. 

2. BOE Meets Tonight The Board of Education will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Strong School to discuss the 2013-2014 proposed school budget. At the BOE's last meeting, the board and indicated that more reductions would be discussed tonight.

The budget will be sent to a public hearing in April, before the proposal goes to referendum in May. Click here for coverage of the 2013-2014 proposed budget.

3. Used Book Drive The Durham Library will begin accepting donations of gently used books, CDs and DVDs on Monday, April 1st for the PALS Book Sale on Saturday, May 18th. We will continue to accept items until Saturday, May 11th. Please no magazines, VHS tapes, textbooks or encyclopedia.

4. Easter Flower Sale The Middlefield Volunteer Fire Company will hold its annual Easter Flower Sale this weekend. Stop by the firehouse on Friday or Saturday to pick up Lillies, Tulips, Hibiscus, hanging baskets, pansies, spring flower arrangements and more!

5. AARP Safe Driving Course This course will be offered on Tuesday, April 30 through the Middlefield Senior Center. This one day class is from 9-1 p.m.  The cost is $12.00 for AARP members and $14.00 for non-members.  Payment is due upon registering.  To register please call Antoinette Astle at 860-349-7121.
