Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of The Civil War

There are many events planned in Connecticut to commemorate the beginning of the Civil War.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. In 1861, Confederate soldiers attacked Fort Sumter. By the end of the war, in 1865, an estimated 1,030,000 Americans had died as a result of the war.

In September, 2010, Gov. Rell created the Connecticut Civil War Commemoration Commission. Below you'll find a list of events scheduled this week to mark the anniversary of the start of the war.
