Brush Pick-Up Almost Done in Durham

Crews are busy this week picking up the last debris piles left by the Oct. 29 nor'easter.

Durham's Public Works Department and a team of outside contractors has nearly completed the arduous task of picking up the staggering amount of debris left behind by the freak snowstorm on Oct. 29.

The brush is being taken to a site located at Haddam Quarter Road and Maiden Lane, where it will eventually be chipped.

Town officials are optimistic that FEMA, which calculates the cost of brush removal by measuring the debris pile, will provide 75 percent reimbursement for the cost of brush removal.
