Stay Outdoors Longer and Extend the Season

Relax with friends by the warmth of your own outdoor stone fireplace and extend the season. Beautiful stone patio...

As a realtor, it's critical that I always practice active listening. But sometimes I have to go beyond that and read between the lines. There are times when a client will tell me something such as how much they enjoy being outdoors, or maybe they share a holiday memory of enjoying savory roast turkey in a dining room large enough to seat twenty. My take away is two-fold: I know my client a little better; and I know more about their wants and needs when it comes to choosing a home. So while all this may seem really basic, you would be surprised at how many salespeople don't read their clients well at all. A friend of mine once told me about her home buying experience when she told her realtor that she and her husband wanted a traditional home, maybe a Colonial or Cape. The realtor pulled together some listings and the first two homes he showed them were an A-frame and a round house. Falling short is one thing, but completely missing the mark can be suicide in this business.

While the snow on the ground came as a surprise to everyone in my house last night, it reminded me that New England seasons are both reliable and welcome. Crisp autumn days will linger for a few weeks longer, and if you had a house with an outdoor fireplace, you could weather the transition to winter perhaps a bit better. In fact, your transition could be seamless if you owned this beautiful home on Old Blue Hills with fireplaces both inside and out.

A striking departure from your classic Colonial, this 3BR beauty set upon 1.22 acres offers sensory surprises in every direction with a vibrant palette, loads of gorgeous windows and custom upgrades, cabinetry and trim work. Bright and bold best describe the well-scaled open spaces offering breathing room for the family with formal dining room with twin corner cabinets to anchor the space, large family room with fireplace, living room/office, and large eat-in kitchen. Hardworking details in the kitchen include crisp white tiles, tons of counter and cabinet space, hardwood floors, and work island with prep sink. Large rooms, especially the bedrooms, are the key to making 2240 square feet feel like much more. Expand your options in the fully finished walk-out lower level offering 900 additional square feet – perfect for kids, teens, studio, office or gym. And Utopian living is just beyond the French doors in both the kitchen and lower level. Enjoy a lush and private backyard from the Trex deck with retractable awning and elaborate custom built stone patio with fireplace. Designed to fully integrate the landscape with the home and maximize the privacy afforded by the lush tree border, the patio is spacious and the fireplace creates a focal point for gatherings.
