I realize that the title of my blog is Featured Artists and we have many to choose from, but for my first blog I would like to focus on small businesses. I was unaware that there actually is a National Small Business Week until Liberty Bank put up their banner in support of this annual event. This event was created in 1963! Who knew?! To find out more about it, go to http://www.sba.gov/nsbw/about. Another thing I wanted to do was thank all of the local businesses for showing their love and support to us new kids on the block! Thank you times a gazillion! Thank you to the Durham Economic Development Commission for creating the new brochure for local businesses to advertise in, at no cost to the business! I hope all of the local businesses participate. I would also like to suggest to folks to check out the 3/50 Project at www.the350project.net. In a nut shell, this site tells us what we can do to support our local brick & mortar businesses and how that support spills into our over-all economy. Please check it out and remember to shop local and support the small businesses of our community.
