Official: Subway Restaurant May Replace Durham In Bloom

According to the recent meeting minutes of Durham's Planning and Zoning Commission, the popular food chain may be moving to 28 Main Street.


Are $5 footlongs coming to the southern end of Durham's Main Street?

Apparently, the idea is on the menu, according to the August 1 meeting minutes of the town's Planning and Zoning Commission.

At the meeting, town planner Geoffrey Colegrove advised the commission that the Subway restaurant currently located in the Grippo's Mobile Service Center at 349 Main Street, may relocate to the building left vacant by .

The building has been empty for a since May.

Commission members have requested a review of the site plan for the property and no decision was made.

I would love a Subway store in that location!

There are better ways to use that lot than letting Subway move into it.

as the economy stumbles out of this recession, I fully support zoning approval for Subway..we need to encourage more small businesses to come to Durham, to Main Street and to the myriad of other opportunities available within our industrial/commercial areas.

I tend not to go into the one in Grippo's but would definitely support one in the other location.......as long as we don't end up with one on each end of our short Main Street as seems to so often be the case in our town.
