VIDEO: Lightning Strike Causes Garage Fire in Killingworth, Cars Destroyed

Firefighters responded to a fire at 20 Cow Pen Hill Road in Killingworth Monday morning after a band of strong thunderstorms passed through the area.

 

Firefighters from Killingworth and several surrounding towns responded to a house fire believed to have been caused by a lightning strike Monday morning.

According to News 8, three cars inside a garage 20 Cow Pen Hill Road were destroyed as a result of the fire.

@GeorgeRoelofsen, a Killingworth volunteer firefighter and camerman for News 8, tweeted the following at 8:37 a.m.: Structure Fire, Killingworth...24 Cow Pen Hill Rd. Lightening strike. First arriving unit reports flames showing.

The home is owned by Mike Board, who told WFSB that a neighbor noticed the garage on fire and banged on Board's door until he heard the noise.

Mutual aid from Clinton, Madison and Haddam responded to the call.
