Deadline to Sign Up for Solarize Durham Extended

Homeowners interested in signing up for the pilot program now have until January 14, 2013 to take advantage of group pricing discounts for solar installations.

The Connecticut Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority (CEFIA) announced today that homeowners will now have until Jan. 14, 2013 to participate in the Solarize Connecticut program.

So far, nearly four dozen Durham homeowners have signed up for the pilot program, the most of any of the four pilot towns which includes Portland, Westport and Fairfield.

As a result, the town has reached Tier 5 pricing meaning homeowners that sign up will receive the lowest prices offered through the program.

The extension will provide additional time for those who were impacted by Storm Sandy to complete the signup process, according to CEFIA officials.

“Thanks to CEFIA for giving us a few additional weeks to reach more residents in our town.  We much appreciate their consideration for the lost weeks due to storm Sandy which was so devastating to several of the Solarize-participating towns," said First Selectman Laura Francis.

"For us, it is an opportunity to get as many Durham residents as possible to learn about this incredible program and get their homes solar-assessed before the deadline.”

It was recently announced that due to the success of the program in Durham, homeowners in nearby Middlefield are eligible to sign up and receive discounted installation.
