Meet Your Candidates: Joel Nick for Board of Finance

Joel Nick has been a Middlefield resident for eight years. He's a graduate of the University of Connecticut and holds a Masters degree in History, a teaching certificate from the St. Joseph College (West Hartford) and a 6th Year Degree in Administration, also from UConn.

Joel is a Social Studies teacher at Farmington High School and teaches at Farmington’s Alternative High School. In addition, he's served as Department Chairman of Social Studies at Stafford High School in Stafford, where he taught from 1994-2001. He served as Social Studies Department Leader in Wallingford from 2002-2010. 

Joel has served as a consultant to the State of Connecticut’s Department of Education. His interest in history also led him to serve on Middlefield's Historical Society.

He and his wife Cindy have been married for 15 years. The couple has two children, Alexandra and Elizabeth, and are members of the Middlefield Federated Church.

Joel is an avid fly-fisherman and enjoys reading.
