PD: Middlefield Man, 88, Arrested on Trespassing Charge in Bank Incident

Middletown police arrested a Middlefield man this week on a first-degree trespassing charge after he was accused of frightening several employees at a city bank.

At 11:11 a.m., police were called to Liberty Bank on Main Street about a man, Joseph L. Marcati, 88, of Jackson Hill Road, Middlefield, who was frightening several of the employees, according to the report.

He left the bank before officers arrived, then turned up at police headquarters. The report says a week before, on Oct. 22, police were called to the same bank about Marcati scaring worker and was told not to return to that branch however he was allowed to patronize any other office. When asked why he went to Liberty Bank, the report says, Marcati replied, "because I wanted to."
