Report: Accident Victim Was Father, Husband; Company Fined for Previous Fall

35-year-old Lamar Liddell of New Haven died Friday morning in a construction accident along Cherry Hill Road in Middlefield.

 

The construction worker who died Friday morning in Middlefield was a father and a husband, according to WTNH.

Lamar Liddell, 35, of New Haven, was pronounced dead shortly after 9 a.m. after falling about 12-feet from staging at a new home contruction site at 323 Cherry Hill Road.

Investigators believe Liddell suffered a head injury in the fall but the medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the workplace accident. OSHA records show that the company building the home, Luanci Construction LLC of North Haven, was fined $11,400 following an investigation into a Dec. 2011 construction accident.

"We'll do a parallel investigation but the preliminary information by the investigator, the resident trooper in the town, has indicated that there's no criminal aspect, that this was an accidental death," State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance told WTNH.
