Middletown Noodle House Now Offers Sushi

Find out about the new sushi offerings at Anoho Noodle House!

Obviously it was essential that I try the new sushi offerings at Anoho the moment they became available; so at 5:00 on Monday, my friend Emily and I rushed down to the Noodle House turned sushi bar. You should’ve seen the smiles on our faces when we learned that we were the first customers of the night.

The ease at which the restaurant has transferred to its new menu is very inspiring. I expected a smile, or at least a minor twitch from the waitress as we asked for rolls, but she calmly wrote down our order, and within seconds the sushi chef, with the ease and professionalism of someone who has been in the field for years (which he has been), started working.

The verdict? The presentation is very attractive. It comes out on abstractly shaped white plates, chopped into 6 pieces, with a helping of wasabi and ginger on the side. As with everything else at Anoho, the service is quick and effortless. As for the sushi itself?

It’s good. Emily, who considers herself something of a raw fish connoisseur, was impressed with her eel and avocado roll. I found my spicy tuna roll satisfying, but thought it could use a bit more spicy mayo, and a larger portion of ginger. The rolls are well-formed; with big chunks of fish and generous helpings of rice, and for the price, you definitely feel like you’re getting the bang for your buck.

For $25, we got two diet cokes, two miso soups, an order of steamed shrimp shumai, a cucumber roll, a spicy tuna roll, and an eel and avocado roll. This was with the 20-percent discount that will be in effect every Monday through Thursday till Nov. 20. Another plus? They deliver.

Anoho is a wonderful restaurant. If top-notch noodles, hot entrees, appetizers, or bubble tea are what you’re after, you literally couldn’t find a better option in Middletown. Their sushi is definitely worthwhile; especially if you’re on a budget or getting food delivered.

For raw fish cravings, or if you’re with a group of picky eaters and you want a well-priced option that will please every palate, Anoho is your place.
