The DeLauro Factor

Wayne Winsley, committed to represent all the people of Connecticut’s 3rd U.S. Congressional District

Wayne Winsley, committed to represent all the people of Connecticut’s 3rd U.S. Congressional District, today released the following statement.

“Between 2008 and 2011, while so many of our fellow citizens were losing jobs and family incomes were shrinking, the personal wealth of Incumbent DeLauro ballooned from about 5 million dollars to over 17 million.”

“That’s a financial growth factor of more than 3X. Such a ‘DeLauro factor’ is clear.

This ‘DeLauro factor’ suggests that this incumbent has been working only on monetary success for herself and her family - instead of appropriately focusing her work on behalf of all the people. Consider the following:

  • Imagine… if - instead - Incumbent DeLauro had worked… to grow Working Family incomes by that factor of 3X?
  • Imagine… if - instead - Incumbent DeLauro had worked… to grow private businesses by that factor of 3X?
  • Imagine… if - instead - Incumbent DeLauro had worked… to grow new jobs by that factor of 3X?
  • Imagine… if - Incumbent DeLauro, who has been in the job for 22 years had truly worked… for all the people?

Regrettably, wishful imagination is not the reality.  The ‘DeLauro factor’ facts tell us the disturbing truth.

Again,

  • DeLauro family income ballooned by a factor of 3X; while working families lost more than $3,000 of income.
  • Meanwhile, across Connecticut, more than 163,000 citizens search for work having been cast adrift on the sea of unemployment by DeLauro, her disciples in the Congressional Delegation and the State Government majority.

The bottom line:

Incumbent DeLauro isn’t working for the people… because Incumbent ‘DeLauro… hasn’t worked… for all the people.

For many more people to get - and keep - jobs, it’s time for Incumbent DeLauro to lose hers.  It’s time to let her go.”

My Pledge

“I, Wayne Winsley, will serve the citizens of the Third Congressional District with forthrightness, honor, and integrity. As your representative in the congress, every citizen can count on me to work tirelessly to get government out of the way of business and individual entrepreneurs so that every private enterprise can grow, create more jobs, and hire more people.”

If true how does that compare to Linda & Mitt ??????????
Wayne Winsley September 05, 2012 at 05:49 PM
Frank, Mitt Romney and Linda McMahon are perfect examples of Capitalism. Rosa DeLauro is perfect example of Cronyism. Mitt Romney is wealthy ONLY because he was able to provide a service and/or expertise to businesses, much like when he was brought in to save the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002. As for McMahon, the ONLY reason she has a nickel to her name today is because she is able to produce a product that millions of Americans and people around the world are willing to line up and pay good money for. Rosa DeLauro has never provided a service or sold a product but has grown finacially fat by feeding off the body politic like an engorged tick on a bassett hound. DeLauro has garnered millions from back-door deals, cronyism and insider-political-trading, while she portrays herself as a fighter for the downtrodden. She will stand with the occupy Wall Street crowd and yell, "We are the 99 percent." Which in her case is a blatent lie as she is firmly ensconced in the 1 percent. At least one million dollars of DeLauro's personal wealth can be traced directly back to campaign contributions. Some of which most likely came from poor working people and seniors of the third district and was funneled through the DCCC and back into her family bank account as payment to her husband. All perfectly legal but really shady. DeLauro is the complete antithesis of capitalism. Democrats like DeLauro don't hate all rich people, only those who actually EARN wealth in the private sector.

That is a spot on assessment Mr. Winsley. I only wish that meant something to the "downtrodden sheep" who vote the party line and only in blue. There are not many states in this union that would re-elect over and over again, a person such as Rosa. She has come to exemplify a career politician, getting fat off her constituents. I wish you much luck, but fear you'll make little headway against this juggernaut of hypocrisy.

Rosa is a great congresswoman. We are very lucky to have her. Womens rights at all cost. We have not come this far to be pushed back..Forward!

Wayne, you may be an even bigger liar than Paul Ryan. The vast majority of DeLauro's "wealth" is her HUSBAND'S ownership of a business. Her financial disclosure is here: http://pfds.opensecrets.org/N00000615_2011.pdf You slander a successful businessman without a shred of evidence, and attempt to glorify the whoremonger running for Senate. So much for your pledge to act with integrity and honor. More lies. So much for your pledge to act with integrity.

Cronyism is the substitution of political influence for free markets. By shifting power to government, cronyism makes political power more important and increases the competition for that political power via campaign contributions. The way to reduce or end cronyism is to reduce or end that government power. And the way to end that power is to replace self-serving crony politicians—like Rosa DeLauro. What is Rosa DeLauro doing about the Federal debt—now equaling over $50,000 per US citizen and over $150,000 PER TAXPAYER? Unless voters get rid of spendaholics like DeLauro, our economy will remain stalled, and the jobless rate will remain unacceptably high. The path to end this waste—and to stop the creation of yet another generation of SNAP-dependent families—is less government. Getting re-elected is DeLauro’s number one priority. Why? So she can continue to milk her office as a cash cow. During the recession, when most of us were LOSING money, her personal wealth GREW by over $2 MILLION per year: http://www.conntact.com/government/11691-rosas-not-in-the-red.html How? The SELF-DEALING relationship with her husband, whereby campaign contributions ultimately end up in her OWN pocket: http://www.humanevents.com/2011/10/04/delauro-campaign-finances-raise-questions/ But as long as DeLauro can continue to fool voters into believing that she “feels their pain” she’ll continue to be re-elected.

During the DNC Delauro's Paycheck Fairness Act got top billing for much of the night. REALITY: “The Paycheck Fairness Act… is based on a misapplied statistic, that women earn 77 cents on a man's dollar. This is true when comparing all women's wages with all men's wages, but not when comparing men and women with the same experience in the same job. The 77 cent statistic combines men and women who work in different jobs with different numbers of hours.” http://www.usnews.com/debate-club/should-the-senate-pass-the-paycheck-fairness-act/paycheck-fairness-act-is-based-on-a-misapplied-statistic So DeLauro's falsehood is what got top billing at the DNC???

Of course, it’s easy for Rosa DeLauro to theorize about solving hunger & poverty issues as she sits in her $1 Million home in New Haven (well, when she isn’t eating gourmet meals from Schneider’s & Federal City Caterers http://www.publicintegrity.org/2010/10/05/2460/political-inaction-committees-how-political-action-committees-are-spending-your ). Wayne stands for a fluid society in which EVERYONE has the possibility of becoming successful—his own hardscrabble early life [described here in the 1st 8 1/2 minutes] speaks for itself: http://ct-n.com/ondemand.asp?ID=8108 Winsley: “There isn’t a single government program…that has ever made a single person financially independent”. Winsley: “I have one request [of newspapers]: Don’t endorse any candidate in the 3rd District until AFTER there have been debates.” [DeLauro refuses to even respond to Winsley’s requests for a debate. Is she hiding something?...]

Another example of DeLauro's crony profiteering : Rahm Emanuel, (Chicago mayor & former Obama chief of staff) as a House member lived for 5 years rent-free in an illegal D.C. basement apartment of colleague Rosa DeLauro. The townhouse—816 East Capitol St NE, Washington, DC 20002—is zoned & taxed as a 1-family dwelling, according to DC zoning administrators. For us lowly commoners, that basement apartment would raise obvious legal & property tax liability issues—but as a crony, careerist politician “DeLauro & friends” are able to keep such issues under the radar. The arrangement also violated congressional ethical guidelines, because Emanuel should have listed the apartment usage as income—and DeLauro should have listed it as a gift—on their congressional financial disclosure forms.  Tax experts estimated that Emanuel’s rent-free income for the 5 years he lived in the DeLauro/Greenberg apartment easily added up to more than $100,000—but again, thanks to crony politics, neither DeLauro nor Emanuel were investigated by the House Ethics Committee. http://www.menwithfoilhats.com/2010/06/white-house-chief-rahm-emanuels-free-rent-tied-to-bp-adviser/ http://gawker.com/5145553/rahm-emanuels-illegal-dc-basement-rental?skyline=true&s=x

Keeping it All in the Family: DeLauro introduced The Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009—purportedly aimed at reforming the food safety responsibilities handled by the Food & Drug Administration [FDA]. However, the introduction of this bill represented an egregious conflict of interest: her husband, Stanley Greenberg, has a business relationship with agricultural biotechnology corporation Monsanto—the largest producer of herbicide-resistant, genetically modified organism seed [GMO, aka genetically engineered/GE], the largest producer of the herbicide Roundup and (until 2008) of bovine growth hormone.  Various FDA officials over the years have had positions with Monsanto. Completing this “triangle of deception”? Rosa DeLauro is chair of the appropriations subcommittee—that funds the FDA… http://www.greenbergresearch.com/index.php?ID=109 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsanto Correct, John Q. Public: much of DeLauro's wealth is indeed funneled into her pocket via her husband's crony political business connections.
Christopher Schaefer September 06, 2012 at 01:01 PM
Completing the Web of Crony Deception: The consulting & polling firm of DeLauro’s husband, Stanley Greenberg, was a prime architect of BP's “greenwashing” i.e. rebranding as a “green” oil company—down to green signs with a sunflower logo and the slogan "Beyond Petroleum"—the same “green” company that created the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Greenberg's company created a sister “political consulting” company named “GCS”.  According to published reports, GCS received hundreds of thousands of dollars in political polling contracts from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. And who was the chairman of that Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee dispensing huge, lucrative polling contracts to his kindly rent-free landlords, DeLauro and Greenberg? If you guessed “Rahm  Emanuel” you are correct! Probably just an odd coincidence… http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/06/rahm-emanuel-bp-gul-oil-spill.html http://www.prwatch.org/node/1608 http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/3314#.UEiXspbF2Hh

Thanks to such tactics, DeLauro is now one of the fifty richest members of Congress http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Sen-Blumenthal-is-One-of-the-Ten-Richest-in-Congress-128244983.html  “It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their selfish purposes.” Pres. Andrew Jackson, 1832

Chris, so many words, so little significance. Nothing but your tin-foil hat rantings and unsupported allegations. You do know how Paul Ryan got his millions, right? His wife took the contacts she made as a congressional staffer and went to work as a lobbyist. Cronyism and corruption, right Chris? Funny how any criticism of Romney-Ryan is class warfare, but if a Democrat is successful you claim that proves they are corrupt.
John Q. Public September 06, 2012 at 07:54 PM
Chris, you bring to mind Shakespeare: A tale told by a idiot full of sound and fury, signifiying nothing.
Christopher Schaefer September 06, 2012 at 07:55 PM
DeLauro stands for cronyism—the substitution of political influence for free markets. By shifting power to government, cronyism makes political power more important and increases the competition for that political power via campaign contributions. Thus, to stay in power Rosa DeLauro must continue to make unsustainable promises to her supporters. For example, see Rosa DeLauro's major contributors: http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/pacs.php?cycle=2012&cid=N00000615&type=I She supports government created jobs—and her biggest supporter is Big Labor. She supports government-funded healthcare—and her 2nd biggest supporter is the healthcare industry. The way to reduce or end cronyism is to reduce or end that government power. Wayne Winsley understands that, if govt. will stop giving political paybacks to ALL industry—and only provide a safety net to those who truly need it—we finally can get this country back on its feet. And the way to accomplish this is for voters to dump crony, lifetime, self-serving career politicians—like Rosa DeLauro. To John Q. Public: Unsupported "allegations"? Check the links provided: I didn't use the term "allegation"--because I don't call facts "allegations".
Christopher Schaefer September 06, 2012 at 11:24 PM
And John, you bring to mind the tactic known as “diversion”: used in debates by those who are unable to deal with facts.
Christopher Schaefer September 10, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Rosa “out-of-touch-with-reality” DeLauro has proposed raising the federal minimum wage in three stages to $9.80 per hour: an increase of 35% over the current level. Studies project job losses in the range of 256,000 to 768,000 following a wage hike of this magnitude, according to Employment Policies Institute, a nonprofit research organization focusing on employment growth, with emphasis on issues that affect entry-level employment. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that of employees working at or near the current minimum wage of $7.25, nearly 50% are under age 25; 43% work in food prep & serving occupations, where profit margins are low. The result will be loss of hours, employment, or both. Among teens, the unemployment rate is already 23.8% nationwide. http://www.wcbm.com/includes/news_items/29/news_items_more.php?id=161961&section_id=29

Delauro's deceit. Regardless of your particular political persuasions, she should be called on this--and there should be a series of debates, so voters can make an informed choice: http://youtu.be/IhkZ0N-iT2Y

Rosa DeLauro's net worth now exceeds $25 MILLION. Open a free account here http://www.legistorm.com/ and see for yourself what DeLauro is worth. Only significant difference between May 2012 disclosure and May 2011 disclosure: her husband’s “John Hancock Retirement-Lifecycle 2015” account is worth c. $1 Million less than it was the previous year. (Compare page 4 of each report.) That's because they CASHED IT OUT to make a lump-sum payoff of the $1Million mortgage on their New Haven residence (see 2012 disclosure). During the recession (which supposedly is over) DeLauro's worth increased by c. $2 MILLION PER YEAR. Not bad for a politician who’s been running one of the biggest scams in D.C. for NEARLY 22 years.

Would love to see a debate!!
MAC September 21, 2012 at 05:32 PM
DeLauro needs to follow Chris Dudd into retirement! She got her cushy gig (and route to riches with her lobbyist husband Stanley Greenberg) because of her family name and position as a Dodd staffer. This 22 yr. incumbent is totally incompetent to do anything but continue her votes which have bankrupted our Nation!! She's so incompetent on facts and fiscal matters that she has still recently told seniors "Don't worry, Social Security will never be insolvent." Her promises are as empty as her head and debate skills, which is why she is "dodging" Wayne Winsley, and why she never holds Town Hall meetings with her constituents! Wayne Winsley is a patriot (Navy vet) who is extremely intelligent, articulate, and totally Principled and a man of INTEGRITY! DeLauro will melt into a corner if she ever debates this superb candidate for congress. Please spread the word about Wayne, and help elect him with contributions, and volunteer your time if you have any concern for our nation's and your posterity's FUTURES!! You don't have to live in the 3rd CD to contribute and/or volunteer. Friends and patriots from out of state can even donate to his campaign. See opportunities to meet Wayne, with events this weekend shown below. http://winsleyforcongress.org/ Wayne is also on FB: http://www.facebook.com/Winsley.for.Congress
