junior Erin Hutchinson recently organized a Special Occasion Clothing Drive, a fundraiser aimed at helping women along the shoreline in need of clothing for special occasions, including job interviews.
On Saturday, Feb. 4 the clothing was distributed during a fashion show at the Shoreline Food Pantry at the in Clinton.
Erin sent us the following email:
The event went very smoothly and we were able to collect over 700 special occasion garments for women in the shoreline community! Also, several members of the very generously donated food to help this cause so we were able to serve the women who came to the event a hot meal after they 'shopped.'
All items were given away for free and any remaining clothes were donated to the in Middletown.
Haddam Killingworth High School students Lauren Butkus, Annie Alferio, Rachel Mainetti, Jessica Labbe, Addison Powers, Holly Nord, Shelby Gaiss and Meagan Torello also greatly assisted at this event and made sure a splendid time was had by all.
They not only helped to set up and breakdown this event but they also helped the ladies find clothing and then visited with them as they dined. Finally, this event would not have been possible if it weren't for my advisers Karen Gagliardi and Reverend Martha Bays and my parents.
