Community Corner
Food Pantry in Need of Volunteer Drivers
Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown is looking for members of the community who can help pick up and deliver donated items.
Several generous local grocery stores are willing to donate food on a regular basis for our families at , but we are having trouble making the weekly pickups at those stores. Can you, or a faith community you attend, or a club, or a group of people you know help out by doing a once a week pickup?

Frozen meat at Stop & Shop, East Hampton, on Friday mornings around 11am
Here’s the routine:
Call ahead the morning of the scheduled pickup to be sure that the store has food to be donated.
Heft the baked goods and frozen meat into your vehicle. Store employees will direct a driver to the food to be donated, but it’s up to the driver to load the food into the car. No need for a SUV or van; a regular-sized car works just fine.
After pickup, drive directly to Amazing Grace where (Mondays and Fridays) volunteers will help with off-loading the food. On Thursdays the driver will need to unload the baked goods since there are no volunteers at the pantry that day.
That’s it! Transporting this food to the pantry is crucial for our families and any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Please contact me at the above email or 860-347-1829 if you have questions or are interested in helping.
With sincere thanks for all you do and best wishes for a joyous holiday season,
Mimi Rich
