The Morning Mist

Morning Mist - a comforting blanket of Nature.

I enjoy waking up early and getting the day started with my morning ritual which includes taking a walk outside. I found a dirt road that leads to homes tucked away out of sight. This morning the mist enveloped me.  It felt so comforting. The birds were awake going about there business. Most of the nests have been built for the offspring that are about to arrive and the birds were happily singing. There is a creek that runs under the road I walk on and it was very full due to the rains we've been having.  This is one of my favorite times of year the transitional seasons are my favorite - fall and spring. I was thinking to myself - why? With transitions come change, hope and promise of things being renewed and fresh.

We are so fortunate to live in a place that abounds with nature. Nature has so much to teach us. It's natural rhythms and flow is constant. I remember telling my mother last year that Nature is the truest thing I know. Nature does not lie or pretend it just is. All the great sages through out time have known this to be true. I think of the history of beautiful writings we have from all the cultures around the world including the USA that revered nature. Ralph Waldo Emerson spent a great time in nature to observe the wonder of it all and learn from it. When we live in harmony with Nature things are much more at peace in the world. I read this quote only yesterday "...the awakened divinity within you helps you find the divinity outside you, and vice versa. Whatever is inside the body is also in the universe" - Swami Rama

These words ring true for me. When I look at nature which includes animals, the elements and humans there is less of a separation than we realize. We cannot exist without nature or one another. That leads to my next question- 'why the discord, why the separation and how can we gain greater insight into a life that is richer and also simpler. The true joys in life are free. The air we breathe - the earth beneath our feet and the simplicity of a bird's song.

I got to say good morning to the lovely Jersey cows that live across the road - I just walked in and said Good Morning Ladies - I got a few moos back. I smiled and walked away. A  lovely way to start the day.

Nature asks for nothing in return, only that we respect it and take joy from it and respect it. It doesn't seem like much to ask for. It would help if we respect ourselves and one another. Gratitude for all that we have and to enjoy what is before us is simple and only takes eyes to see, ears to hear, a mind that is clear and hearts to be open. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it is that simple.
