Durham & Middlefield Libraries Challenge Young Readers With Summer Programs

The Durham and Middlefield Libraries have created some fun-filled and educational events to keep kids and teens engaged and challenged this summer.

In Durham, the Summer Reading Kickoff Event, "Sciencetellers: Dragons and Dreams," is on Monday, June 30th at 6:30 p.m. Sciencetellers uses visually-exciting science experiments to bring the sights and sounds of a story to life. Children will be enthralled as they watch and listen to the 45-minute interactive storytelling show. Registration is required.

Kids who read at least one book per week and come in to the library to record their reading will receive a prize or a coupons for a treat from a local business.

A little bit of friendly competition in the summer reading challenge is encouraged for teens. They can read books and win badges for Their reading. Then they can see which one of their peers has the most badges by checking online.

Young Adults who would like to participate in the Teen Summer Reading Program may begin creating their online accounts today. Click the link here then click on and click on “Sign me up!”
