Two Wins for Coginchaug Boys and Girls Soccer

The Durham and Middlefield teams are doing great so far this season.

Both boys and girls Coginchaug soccer teams scored two victories against Portland on Friday.

CRHS boys won 3-2 and the girls team won big with a 2-1 victory. Both teams had travelled to Portland to play the competing teams on their own turf.

"The CRHS Boys Soccer team did the one thing that needed to be done – they didn’t panic," Durham-Middlefield Patch blogger William Kovacs wrote in his blog post on the game. "They had just watched one of the state’s best players (not only according to this reporter, but the Hartford Courant as well) score an amazing and very intimidating goal."

Here's an excerpt from the girls game:

"Eight minutes into the half CRHS put together a play that would make any chalk-talking coach proud," Kovacs wrote. "Co-Captain Defender Kasi Whitaker took a long ball first touch and made it count when she found Freshman Olivia Preneta wide."
