Durham's Conroy Falls Short in Amateur Final

Coginchaug graduate loses 110th Connecticut Amateur 7-and-6 to Matt Smith.

Durham resident Ben Conroy fell just short of winning an amateur golf title on Friday, losing the the 110th Connecticut Amateur championship to Matt Smith.

The 30-hole match was played at Race Brook Country Club in Orange.

Conroy, a Coginchaug High School graduate and a former member of Lyman Orchard's golf staff, will be a senior this fall at the University of Deleware where he's been named captain of the golf team.

Here's a shot-by-shot breakdown of the match courtesy of the CSGA.

Hang in there Ben, just a matter of time before all your hard work pays off. Keep the faith and remember I want a signed pair of your shoes when you go pro... LOL

I had the great pleasure of watching Ben play in this Tournament and it is amazing the level of golf that was on display.
