Chad Knight Leads Westport to Little League World Series
Westport beats Rhode Island 1-0 to win the New England Regional championship and a shot at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Just two weeks after beating the Coginchaug Little League All-Stars to capture the team's first ever state championship, Westport Little League's 12-year-old All-Star team beat Rhode Island 1-0 on Saturday night to advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Westport's Chad Knight struck out 14 batters while giving up just one hit in the New England Regional championship played in Bristol in front of more than 6,000 fans.
Knight also knocked in the game's only run in the fifth inning.
Westport has gone undefeated this summer, including two wins against the District 9 and Section 2 champion Coginchaug team, and will face South Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The game will be aired on ESPN2.
