10-Year-Old All-Stars Win Opening Games, Three Games Tonight

The Coginchaug Little League 10-year-old all-star baseball and softball teams were victorious Wednesday in the opening round of the Section 2 state tournament.

After falling behind Ellington 3-0 in the second inning, Aaron Faiella pitched three scoreless innings and Kolby Pascarelli hit a bases clearing triple to lead Coginchaug to a 6-4 win. Mike Garofalo came into get the last three outs for the save.

The team will play Newington tonight at 5 p.m. at Patterson Field in Waterford.

The 10-year-old softball team meanwhile beat Granby 5-4 in the team's first game of the Section 2 state tournament. 

The team will play Jewitt City at 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field in East Lyme.

The Coginchaug Little League 12-year-old all-stars will play Waterford South in the second round of the Section 2 state tournament at 5:30 p.m. at the Harwinton Sports Complex in Harwinton.
