They Know Their History

Three members of the Bell family, of Killingworth, recently took home awards at History Day in Connecticut and have advanced to the National History Day contest later this spring.

Rebekah, Tabitha and Jared Bell of Killingworth recently received first place awards during History Day in Connecticut, an event held on on Saturday, April 30 at Classical Magnet High School and the Connecticut Historical Society.

The Bells, who receive homeschooling, were among 345 students in grades 6-12 to compete in the contest. Students research history topics of their choice related to an annual theme and create exhibits, documentaries, performances and essays.

Rebekah and Tabitha Bell won first place for their exhibit "A Law Just for Prudence: Education for all Debated." The exhibit will be featured in a upcoming issue of Connecticut Explored and will be on display at the Old State House in Hartford for the last two weeks of June.
