Schools in Durham and Middlefield to Reopen Wednesday, Classes on Friday Too

Superintendent Susan Viccaro announced today that District 13 schools will be open tomorrow and on Friday, a day previously scheduled as a day off.

Schools in Durham and Middlefield will reopen on Wednesday following last weekend's blizzard that dumped about three feet of snow on the two towns.

Superintendent Susan Viccaro made the decision Tuesday after meeting with officials from DATTCO bus company and talking to other school and town officials about safety.

In a message to parents Viccaro urged everyone to drive safely tomorrow.

"I urge everyone to exercise caution on the roads and around our schools. Please be patient if buses are running behind," she said.

In addition to schools reopening Wednesday, classes will be in session on Friday, a day previously scheduled as a day off for students and a professional development day for staff.

The district will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18 and and Tuesday, Feb. 19.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
