Schools Closed on Monday, Tuesday Due to Hurricane Sandy

Impending storm forces Regional School District 13 officials to cancel classes.

 

Schools in Durham and Middlefield will be closed on Monday and Tuesday in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, the district announced Sunday.

The storm is forecast to make landfall Monday night but winds will begin increasing late-Sunday, according to forecasters.

Some shoreline towns in Connecticut are under evacuation orders, including East Haven, and Gov. Malloy signed a Declaration of Emergency on Friday.

Independent Day School in Middlefield has also canceled classes on Monday.
