UPDATE: UConn Police: Woman Falsely Reported Sexual Assault

An alert was sent out to UConn students at the time the incident was reported Saturday, police said.

 

A woman who claimed to be sexually assaulted on the  Storrs campus Saturday falsely reported the incident, according to police.

Earlier this evening, a woman told police that she had been struck in the head with a skateboard and sexually assaulted in the area of North Eagleville Road and Glenbrook Road, according to a police report.

UConn Police launched an investigation and found that the reported incident did not occur.

"During the subsequent investigation, detectives reviewed security camera footage and conducted follow up interviews with the complainant and have learned that the complainant falsely reported the assault," police said in a prepared statement.

Police did not say whether the woman was a student and have not released her name at this time.
