Both Regional School Districts' Budgets Pass!

Voters approve school budgets for Regional School District 13 and Regional School District 17

There was a lower than expected turnout at the polls but voters still braved the wet weather to cast their ballots at today's Referendum on the Regional School District 13 budget. Middlefield voted "NO," Durham voted "YES" but the school budget passed by nearly 100 votes.

The final (but still unofficial) tally was as follows:

Middlefield: 259 "YES"; 316 "NO"

Durham: 606 "YES"; 462 "NO"

The school district budget of $35,981,819 for 2012-2013 is approved with a total of 865 votes for and 778 against.

In Killingworth, voters approved the proposed $38,894,732 budget for Regional School District 17. In all there were 287 votes in favor and 167 votes against, with a total voter turnout of 10.6 percent.

In Haddam, the count was close, with 385 votes in favor and 379 votes against, with voter turnout at about 13 percent. The results aren't official yet but as of now, it seems the budget has passed.

Check back for the full story and final results tomorrow morning.
