Mini-Skirts Grab Board's Attention

Superintendent says she plans to address concern over "short skirts" with high school principal.

The discussion — and the subject — was short.

On Wednesday night, District 13 board members were notified about concerns over "short skirts" worn by some students attending last weekend's homecoming dance at Coginchaug High School.

Board members could not immediately recall the district's dress policy but Superintendent Susan Viccaro said school officials tend to be "a little bit more relaxed at school dances."

"They can't dress like that to go to school, because I've been outside when [Principal] Andre [Hauser] is standing outside with a ruler, literally," board chair Thomas Hennick said. "I don't know if the policy carries over to dances."

Viccaro said she planned to talk to Hauser about the concerns.

"I will do that and then I will report back to the board," Viccaro said.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
