Liya Simon Named Jonathan Howe Award Winner
Liya Simon, a fourth grader at John Lyman School, has been selected to receive the schools highest honor, The Jonathan Howe Award. The award is given each year to honor the memory of Jonathan Howe, a former Lyman student and lover of reading.
27 Lyman fourth graders wrote an essay to express their love of reading. The essays were read by a committee of Lyman staff and twelve students were asked to come in for an interview. Of the twelve candidates, two were chosen for honorable mention, Drew Morris and Caroline Smith. The committee was thrilled to choose Liya Simon as the winner of this prestigious award on its twentieth anniversary.
