On Friday, March 15, Lindsay Artkop of Durham was awarded the the South Central Area Superintendent's Award for ACES Educational Center for the Arts at an awards luncheon at The Laurel View Country Club in Hamden.
The award is presented to students who exhibit high academic achievement, strong extra-curricular involvement and an important commitment to community service.
Lindsay is a senior at Coginchaug High School and is also enrolled at the Educational Center for the Arts, a half day Magnet Honors High School for the Arts in New Haven. She's also an officer of the ECA Chapter of the Tri M National Music Honor Society and a member of the ECA Jazz ensemble that played at the luncheon for over 300 educators and students.
This weekend, Lindsay will be playing in the pit band under the direction of Tim Fisher for the Independent Day School's musical production of "Annie".
She plans to enter an undergraduate music program in the fall to pursue a career in music. You can read more about Lindsay and her music on her website lindsayartkop.com.
