Haddam Killingworth Student Takes Home Another Award

Clayton Rountree was awarded the 2011 Dunkin' Donuts Franchisee Scholarship on July 7.

Recent Haddam Killingworth High School graduate Clayton Rountree, of Killingworth, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from The Connecticut Dunkin’ Donuts Franchisees earlier this month.

Rountree, , was among 100 local students presented with the scholarship during an awards ceremony at the State Capitol in Hartford on Thursday, July 7.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy delivered the keynote address to the students during the ceremony.

The Dunkin’ Donuts Connecticut Franchisee Scholarship Program is now in its eighth year. Students were selected for the scholarship on the basis of a “well rounded” character including a positive academic record, and demonstrated leadership in school and community activities, according to the company.

More than 4,200 students registered for the scholarships, but only 1,000 were selected.

Rountree, who was named a 2011 Presidential Scholar, will be attending the University of Southern California in the fall.
