Elizabeth Gara Steps Down from Board of Education

Durham resident was recently named Executive Director of Council of Small Towns and cited professional reasons for resigning.

 

Durham resident Elizabeth "Betsy" Gara has resigned from the Regional School District 13 Board of Education.

The announcement was made during Monday night's Board of Selectmen in Durham.

Gara, a Republican, was recently named Executive Director of the Council of Small Towns (COST), an organization that works with small towns to ensure they are represented in the legislative process, and cited professional reasons for stepping down.

Voters will elect a new board member to serve the remainder of her term, which would have expired on June 30, 2013, at a town meeting scheduled for Nov. 19.
