Brewster Invites Volunteers for "Day of Caring"

Volunteers with Citizens Bank visited Brewster Elementary School on Oct . 5 to read to school children and participate in Middlesex United Way's Day of Caring.

On Friday, Oct. 5, a group of volunteers from Citizens Bank visited students at Brewster Elementary School to participate in Middlesex United Way's Day of Caring.

The annual event matches groups of volunteers from local companies with meaningful volunteer projects that advance the common good, according to the United Way. Middlesex United Way’s focus areas are education, income, health, and housing.

The volunteers read to students and helped with other activities in the classroom.

"I think it's great," said Brewster Principal Nancy Heckler. "We're trying to get more mentoring programs going... so it helps us to to develop the mentoring. That's one of our goals, to get more adults in here to work with the kids."

Middlesex United Way is a locally based organization dedicated to strengthening lives, helping people, and improving community conditions in the fifteen towns in Middlesex County. To learn more, visit middlesexunitedway.org or facebook.com/middlesexunitedway.
